What is a QUBEdocs Account?
Beginning in 2020, all QUBEdocs customers will have a QUBEdocs Account. All subscription and license information will be accessed from this one account. Also, beginning in 2020 QUBEdocs will be simplifying our subscription, licensing, deployment and support processes.
How Do Subscriptions and Licenses Work?
Now, all subscribed and licensed customers will have access to a simple-to-understand QUBEdocs Account that gives them access to all of their QUBEdocs Cloud services and QUBEdocs Local (on-premise) software downloads and updates.
There will now be one subscription with three deployment options:
- QUBEdocs Cloud (accessed via the internet)
- Documentation snapshots created via metadata manually uploaded or accessed via REST API
- No live data reaches our servers, just metadata
- QUBEdocs Local (accessed via your corporate intranet, on-premise)
- Documentation snapshots created inside your corporate firewall
- No live data reaches our servers, just metadata
- QUBEdocs Dual-use (ability to use both methods above)
All subscription options will be licensed according to the number of IBM TM1 server instances you want to document.
What is an IBM TM1 "Server Instance"?
Also referred to in QUBEdocs as a "model" or a "connection", an IBM TM1 "server instance" should not be confused with a physical IBM TM1 server. For example, an IBM TM1 server may have multiple "server instances" within it. Basically an IBM server is the actual application server software and IBM TM1 server instances are the individual databases that are with in it. Often times you will have separate server instances for development, testing and production. We refer to these as Dev, Test, Prod etc ...
The image below shows an example in QUBEdocs of six instances.
Note: We highly recommend documenting at least one of your Dev or Test instances that match each Prod instance so you can leverage the snapshot comparison functionality between Dev and Prod. This is very useful in migrations and ongoing deployments.
Counting Your Server Instances
In order to configure your subscription correctly, we will need to know how many IBM TM1 server instances you need to document. You can find a list of your IBM TM1 server instances by using the Server Explorer within several of the IBM TM1 interfaces.
Below is an example of Server Explorer within TM1 Architect.
